Background
The name of this web site refers to our property in Sparta Ontario. It reflects the aspired qualities noted in the dedication and to all who attend both.
Sparta is an historic community, originally founded by Quakers in the earliy 1800's. It is situated in the heart of South Western Ontario south of London and near Lake Erie. Joy's Place is situated on 20 acres just north of the hamlet. The first building completed in 2000 was called Joy's Place and it provides a space for group meditation, a retreat and guest house as well as a facility where Nutan Joy has her practice (Alignment and Harmony - see www.nutanjoy.com)
Joy's Place
The specific web site came about as a consequence of an interest in developing a site for the whole Sparta space and in working with the original path initiated by Martin Muller. A study of session transcripts recorded between 1979 and 1984 by Rosemary Harris, and later edited by Francois Vecchio prompted a search to see if there were still copies of the original documents around in digital form. When Francois was contacted about this, he offered to forward the files and the possibility of sharing this with others led to the creation of the site. Since its initial opening there has been interest shown from around the world to the work and the site continues to grow.
Much thanks is due to all who participated in the creation of the materials and for their work on these documents. The information provides an extremely valuable resource to those wishing to follow this path and participate in the work to which this site is dedicated.
